On Saturday, August 30, 2025, the City of Boston and Mayor Michelle Wu will host a special celebration at the intersection of Ambrose and Albany Street in Roxbury to honor New Edition, the legendary R&B group founded here in 1978. Starting at 10 a.m., this free public event will pay tribute to the group’s lasting influence on both Boston’s cultural identity and the music industry worldwide. Join us as we unveil New Edition Way and celebrate the hometown icons whose sound continues to inspire generations.

Get ready for an afternoon of flavor, fun, and friendly competition at Harvard Stadium. Explore food trucks serving up local favorites, shop from Black-owned businesses, and enjoy activities for all ages. The excitement peaks with the Stroll Off, where step teams will bring their best moves for a chance to win $5,000.

This free, public event takes place on August 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. — don’t miss your chance to be part of the action.

Feel the energy as Johnson C. Smith University, Morehouse College, and the City of Boston Marching Band come together to spark school pride ahead of the HBCU Classic at Harvard Stadium. Expect lively performances, big sound, and a crowd full of spirit.
