Golf Course Summer Concert Series 2022: Grayson Ty

Enjoy live music on the patio at one of the City's golf courses.

The Golf Course Concert Series is part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s ParkARTS program. They are held in July and August; shows begin at 6:00 p.m.

Grayson Ty has a genuine stage presence that brings audiences together with his honest heartfelt lyrics, and soulful voice.
Following a sold-out release show for his debut EP Believe, Grayson has shared the stage with American Idol winner Nick Fradiani, Heather Maloney (Signature Sounds), and Crystal Bowersox (American Idol runner-up) among others. Believe earned regional and international acclaim as Grayson toured extensively. Grayson's sound consists of R&B, Folk, and Pop.

His most recent single, “Fall Again”, has rapidly gained over 24,000 streams on Spotify, and was highly reviewed by journals across the United States and Europe. His music can be found on all platforms, as well as at graysonty.com

About Annie:

The South Boston native has been active on the music scene since 2019, playing at Boston establishments and local events. Her sound consists of indie-folk and rock-pop. Annie's debut single "big kids" was released on April 8, 2022.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: New Legaxy

New Legaxy will perform at The Patios on City Hall Plaza on August 27, as part of the City of Boston's Friday Afternoon Concert Series in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

New Legaxy is a Boston-based band led by New Orleans drummer Brian Richburg that blends jazz sensibilities, sampled beats, and breezy vocals. The band's debut EP, Summer Songs, came out in late 2020, and its follow-up is due this summer.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: Nia Ashleigh

Ashleigh will perform at The Patios on City Hall Plaza on August 20 as part of the City of Boston's Friday Afternoon Concert Series, in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

Inspired by her Jamaican and Canadian roots, Nia Ashleigh is an up-and-coming R&B artist from Newark, New Jersey. After making her debut as Nala in "The Lion King" on Broadway at age 10, she went on to sing for greats such as Dionne Warwick, Clive Davis, and Andra Day. With her first single, "Kevin," spotlighted by Spotify (on the "Fresh Finds: The Wave" playlist), Ashleigh has a bright future ahead of her.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: Mestizas

Mestizas will perform at The Patios on City Hall Plaza on August 13, as part of the City of Boston's Friday Afternoon Concert Series, in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

Mestizas is a musical group specializing in the fusion of flamenco, jazz, and various genres of Latin American and Caribbean folklore. The group has an extensive repertoire that includes original music as well as arrangements of traditional Spanish, Cuban, and Uruguayan songs. Known for its refined musicality, this all-female quintet stands out among bands from Berklee College of Music (where the group was formed) for its quality, originality, aesthetic, and social sense, making them one of the most in-demand groups on campus and in Boston.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: Alex Maes and the Connection

Alex Maes & the Connection will perform at The Patios on City Hall Plaza on August 6, as part of the City of Boston's Friday Afternoon Concert Series in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

Alex Maes grew up in a small town in Colorado nestled in the Rocky Mountains. She developed a knack for songwriting and performing when she was 10, and shortly after formed a rock-pop group with friends, touring the state and gaining a love for performing. Eventually she received a full ride to Berklee College of Music, where she began exploring the depths of her artistry and met the artists who would become Alex Maes & the Connection. The group is a Boston-based nu-funk band that has been together since 2019. They play catchy original material that Maes composes and also cover popular songs in their funk-jazz style. With Francisco Morales on drums, Warren Pettey on keys, Kevin Barber on bass, Flynn Tanner on guitar, and Maes on vocals, Alex Maes & the Connection is impossible to ignore with the band's infectious grooves and contagious arrangements.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: Sheila del Bosque Trio

The Sheila del Bosque Trio will perform at The Patios on City Hall Plaza on July 30, as part of the City of Boston's Friday Afternoon Concert Series in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

Created in 2018, the Sheila del Bosque Trio gives the audience a selection of contemporary and traditional Afro-Cuban music with the influence of European and jazz ingredients. The trio has been performing in festivals like the 49th annual Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey, Berklee Performance Center, Brown Bag Series, and Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, among others.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: The Thistle Brothers

The Thistle Brothers will perform at The Patios on City Hall Plaza on July 23, as part of the City of Boston's Friday Afternoon Concert Series in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

The Thistle Brothers (Cameron and Devin) are a Boston-based brotherly duo making music for a cause. Each single that they release is connected to a charity, and the money made from the singles (through streams, purchases, and donations) is sent to the charities. Their main influences include and stem from artists such as Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan, placing the duo in a sonic space that blends folk, R&B, and classic rock. They hope that their music can not only please the ears of their listeners, but also help to make the world a better place through the charities their music is connected to.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: Taylor Deneen

Deneen will perform at The Patios on City Hall Plaza on July 16, as part of the City of Boston's Friday Afternoon Concert Series in partnership with Berklee College of Music.

Taylor Deneen

Taylor Deneen is a singer-songwriter from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her signature sound comes from a variety of genres, including R&B, pop, gospel, and jazz. Some of her influences are Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and D’Angelo. Deneen began singing at the age of 6 and composing music shortly afterward. At just 21 years old, she has performed for Missy Elliott, Chaka Khan, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone, just to name a few. Deneen has also studied with musical director Rob Lewis, prominently known for his work with Christina Aguilera and Toni Braxton. She received a full scholarship to Berklee and is a winner of the Voice Department’s Outstanding Performer Award. Most recently, Deneen performed in Berklee’s commencement concert, paying tribute to honoree Pharrell Williams with his hit song “Happy.” This summer she will complete her studies, obtaining a Bachelor of Music degree in professional music and contemporary writing and production. If you are hearing her for the first time, be prepared to be moved by her distinct sound and effortless vocals. The future is bright for this promising young talent.

Friday Afternoon Concert Series: Brandon Harris

Reason for cancellation: inclement weather

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Brandon Harris is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter full of rhythm and soul. His creative lyricism and impeccable musicality make him a one-of-a-kind artist. He found his love for music in the church at the age of 10, and has been writing and releasing his own material ever since. His artistry as a musician, singer, writer, and performer is influenced by artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Usher, and Beyoncé. In his sophomore year of college, he released his album "SALT", which became a hit within the Berklee community and was described by professors of the Music Production and Engineering Department as "brilliant." He is currently finishing his studies at Berklee College of Music and most recently dropped a new EP, "TWENTYONE", and a deluxe edition of "SALT", titled "Extra Salt", available on all streaming platforms.
