Kevin Thaddeus Brown, Jr.

Program Manager

Thaddeus channels creativity, strategic thinking, and a knack for solving complex problems to ensure public and private programs, services, and spaces are more equitable and accessible for all. His work centers on designing solutions that serve the people who power and rely on these systems.

Before joining the Mechanics, Thaddeus was a Senior Consultant at Guidehouse, where he partnered with government agencies to rethink and improve how they serve communities. He played a part in efforts to streamline business processes, enhance procurement strategies, and manage the statewide expansion of substance use disorder services—always keeping people at the heart of the work.

Thaddeus also honed his passion for evidence-based change at MDRC, where he focused on social policy research. His work spanned early childhood, K-12, higher education, and behavioral science projects aimed at reducing poverty in low-income and marginalized communities. From working on randomized controlled trials to co-authoring briefs on students' social and emotional well-being, he developed actionable strategies to create meaningful, lasting impact.

Deeply rooted in his communities, Thaddeus has served as a Volunteer Adjudicator with the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office’s Neighborhood Courts and was a task force member on the City of Cambridge’s LGBTQ+ Friendly Housing Task Force.

Originally from San Francisco, California, Thaddeus holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor of Arts in African American studies and public affairs from UCLA, where his research focused on economic mobility, education access, workforce development, and youth empowerment.
