Age Strong Blog: Open Streets in Hyde Park
By Dillon Tedesco, Age Strong Staff
On Sunday, August 11, the City’s Open Streets initiative held its 4th event of the season, this time in Hyde Park. Open Streets is a program that gives city space back to the residents; where streets are closed off to cars and pedestrians can walk, ride, dance, plan, and mingle in their own neighborhood.
At Open Streets Hyde Park, there were dozens of small businesses, local nonprofits, and a variety of government organizations who all came together to support the community. Residents were able to shop, sign up for benefits and assistance, connect with local nonprofits for services, and meet friends, family, and neighbors. It was a fun-filled day of community connection.
Open Streets will host two more events this summer: East Boston on September 15 and Allston/Brighton on October 20. For more information visit the Open Streets site.
