IPM for Housing Owners and Managers

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a pest control plan that uses alternative methods to keep your property safe from pests and pesticides. It’s proven to reduce infestations, improve your residents’ quality of life, and increase the job satisfaction of property managers.

Integrated Pest Management

Transition your property with four simple steps:

  1. Reduce food sources that attract pests
  2. Declutter your property so there’s less places for pests to hide
  3. Locate pest entrances and seal them
  4. Place low toxicity traps (and use other pesticides when absolutely necessary)

Switch from traditional pest control to IPM

IPM is the primary pest management strategy of The Healthy Pest Free Housing Initiative (HPFHI) and Boston Housing Authority (BHA). Explore the many resources available to transition your property to an IPM program:

Involve your residents

Working with residents is critical to a successful IPM program.

BHA helps by hiring residents as IPM Tenant Coordinators. Their job is to educate other residents about IPM and their role in it.  Explore our resources for involving residents in your IPM program:
