Gayana Daniel
Gayana holds a passion for equity, accessibility and social justice. She immigrated to the United States from Haiti and is multilingual in Haitian Creole, French and English. She came to Boston and distinguished herself as a great leader through her involvement and her commitment to diverse communities.
Prior to joining LCA, she was an intern at the State House for Representative Nika Elugardo, and was assigned to assist with criminal justice reform. She led the State Representative’s interactions with inmates, and this internship experience has confirmed her passion for public service and dedication to social justice issues.
In 2019, Gayana started with the Office of Language and Communications Access as an Outreach Intern and transitioned as LCA’s Community Outreach Coordinator until March 2022. In this role, she facilitated meaningful engagement and conversations with diverse community organizations and uphold LCA’s mission to ensure accessibility is at the forefront of the city.
Currently, Gayana serves as LCA’s Chief of Staff and oversees the office’s daily operations, finances and human resources and continues to encourage LCA’s internal and external collaboration with other city staff and community organizations.
Throughout the years, Gayana has proven herself to be an advocate for breaking language barriers, racial inequalities and social justice. She believes that everyone should be treated equally regardless of language barriers, racial and immigration status. Outside of her role, she teaches ESL classes to immigrants at a non-profit organization to further her mission to contribute in breaking language barriers and to encourage social and educational advancement. She practices her motto by being the change she wants to see around her.
