Mayor Wu issued a heat emergency for the City of Boston beginning Monday, August 11, through Wednesday, August 13. Splash pads are open at various parks and playgrounds, and several City pools are open for swimming.

Senior Civic Academy - 2025

Want to learn more about government and how to use your voice to affect change? Join Age Strong's Civic Academy!

The six sessions will be in-person at Boston City Hall will cover the following topics:

  • Tuesday, September 30, 2025: Introduction to Civic Engagement / Advocacy
  • Tuesday, October 7, 2025: Skill Building and Introduction to City Government
  • Thursday, October 16, 2025: Engaging with City Government
  • Thursday, October 23, 2025: Engaging with State Government
  • Thursday, October 30, 2025: Engaging with Federal Government
  • Thursday, November 6, 2025: Graduation

All sessions will run from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Thursdays except for the first two weeks of the program when sessions will be held on Tuesdays.
