Mellissa Honeywood

Deputy Director

Mellissa Honeywood RDN is the Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Office of Food Justice. She is a chef, dietitian, and an advocate for equity in food systems. Honeywood received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Culinary Nutrition from Johnson and Wales University, then completed her training as a registered dietitian at Keene State College and at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, giving her an ideal combination of culinary skill and in-depth nutrition knowledge.

Honeywood has had the privilege of working alongside some inspiring folks throughout her career, and each interaction has informed her understanding of our complex food system. During her 12-year tenure as Director of Food and Nutrition Services for Cambridge Public Schools, the school meals evolved to include more locally sourced items, vegetarian protein sources, and international recipes that reflect the diversity of the student community. Mellissa serves as an Advisory Board Member of the Chef Ann Foundation, an Advisory Committee member of the Scratchworks Foundation, and an Advisory Board Member for the Massachusetts Farm to School Network.
