City Council Committee on Government Operations hearing on Docket #0859 and Docket #0562

The Committee will hold a hearing on Docket #0859, petition for a special law re: An Act Directing the City of Boston Police Department to Waive the Maximum Age Requirement for Police Officers for Daniel Flores and Docket #0562, petition for a special law re:  An Act Providing Certain Benefits for the Widow of a Former Firefighter of the City of Boston. The Chair of the Committee is Councilor Lydia Edwards. Councilor Ricardo Arroyo is the sponsor of the dockets.

    Docket #0859, Petition for a special law re:  An Act Directing the City of Boston Police Department to Waive the Maximum Age Requirement for Police Officers for Daniel Flores, referred to Committee on July 21, 2021; and,

    Docket #0562, petition for a special law re:  An Act Providing Certain Benefits for the Widow of a Former Firefighter of the City of Boston, referred to Committee on April 14, 2021.  These matters were sponsored by Councilor Arroyo. 

    NOTICE:  The Boston City Council may have a quorum participating due to standing committees of the City Council consisting of both voting and non-voting members.  However, members participating in this duly posted meeting are participating and deliberating only in conjunction with the business of the standing committee.

    Attendance

    In accordance with Chapter 20 of the Acts of 2021, modifying certain requirements of the Open Meeting Law and relieving public bodies of certain requirements, including the requirement that public bodies conduct its meetings in a public place that is open and physically accessible to the public, the City Council will be conducting this hearing virtually.  This enables the City Council to carry out its responsibilities while adhering to public health accommodations and ensuring public access to its deliberations through adequate, alternative means.  The public may watch this meeting via live stream at boston.gov/city-council-tv and on Xfinity 8/RCN 82/Verizon 964.  It will also be re-broadcasted at a later date on Xfinity 8/RCN 82/Verizon 964.
