The City Council is holding a meeting on January 15 at 12 p.m.

  2. COMMUNICATIONS FROM HIS HONOR, THE MAYOR:

    0191    Message and order extending the City's acceptance of M.G.L. c 32B,  Section 19, to be effective until June 30, 2025 upon my approval and execution of a written agreement with the Public Employee Committee (PEC). The PEC will continue to be the exclusive bargaining representative for the coalition of public employee bargaining units and retirees of the City of Boston with respect to health insurance coverage until June 30, 2025.  The agreement extends reforms agreed upon in the current PEC agreement and adds further saving, estimated to equal approximately $60 million over the five year period. It also anticipates continued efforts to achieve additional saving through future health insurance procurements.

    0192    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Million Seven Hundred Ninety-Four Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-Three Dollars and Forty-Seven Cents ($1,794,683.47) in the form of a grant, for the FY20 Senator Charles E. Shannon Jr. Community Safety Initiative grant, awarded by the MA Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to be administered by the Boston Police Department. The grant will fund regional and multi-disciplinary approaches to combat gang violence through coordinated prevention and intervention, law enforcement, prosecution, and reintegration programs.

    0193    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend a grant of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) from the United States Department of the Interior under the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Act of 1965, to be administered by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, for the purpose of making capital improvements to McConnell Park in Dorchester. The Parks and Recreation Department will use the funds to reconstruct the athletic fields, including a Challenger field, Boston's first inclusive ball field and to add climate resiliency measures.

    0194    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Four Hundred Ninety-One Thousand Three Hundred Sixteen Dollars ($491,316.00) in the form of a grant for the First Responders-Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act Cooperation Agreement, awarded by the United States Health and Human Services to be administered by the Fire Department. The grant will fund a collaborative effort between Boston Fire Department first responders, the Mayor's Office of Recovery Services, the Boston Public Health Commission and community-based organizations to improve the City's response to opioid overdoses. This is year 2 of a 4 year grant.

    0195    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) in the form of a 2019 Transportation Planning Grant awarded by Massachusetts Gaming Commission to be administered by the Boston Transportation Department. The purpose of the grant is to fund a portion of the design cost under the Tetra Tech contract for the Sullivan Square/Rutherford Avenue project.

    0196    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Eighty Thousand Three Hundred Seventy Dollars and Forty Cents ($80,370.40) in the form of a grant for the Federal FY19 Violence Against Women Act STOP grant, awarded by the United States Department of Justice, passed through the MA Executive Office of Public Safety & Security, to be administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund a Civilian Violence Advocate who provides services for victims in Jamaica Plain and East Boston, and overtime for all the civilian Domestic Violence advocates.

    0197    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Forty-Five Thousand Dollars ($45,000.00) in the form of a grant, for the FFY19 Violence Against Women Act STOP grant, awarded by the United States Department of Justice, passed through the MA Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, to be administer by the Police Department. The grant will fund a Civilian Domestic Violence Advocate who provides services for victims in Jamaica Plain and East Boston, and overtime for all the civilian Domestic Violence advocates.

    0198    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) in the form of a grant, for the Age-Friendly Bench Program, award by Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation to be administered by the Public Work Department. The grant will fund the installation of Age-Friendly benches in Allston Brighton's business district.

    0199    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) in the form of a grant, for the FY20 National Violence Death Reporting System Grant, awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to be administered by the Boston Police Department. The grant will fund data collection by the Bureau of Investigation Services and the Drug Control Unit.

    0200    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty Four Dollars ($1,884.00) in the form of a grant, for the Child and Adult Care Food Program, awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture, passed through the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, to be administered by the Boston Center for Youth and Families.  The grant will fund a healthy breakfast and snack to children enrolled in the program.
