Tree Removal Hearing - Roxbury

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public hearing on Thursday, December 5, at 11 a.m. on a request to remove nine public shade trees in Roxbury due to a highway reconstruction project being undertaken by the City of Boston Public Works Department on Ruggles Street between Tremont Street and Shawmut Avenue.

    The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) in the 3rd floor Conference Room of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, Roxbury. 

    The request is for the removal of one red oak tree measuring 22 inches dbh (diameter at breast height) and one London planetree measuring 16 inches dbh at 175 Ruggles Street; two London planetrees measuring 14 and 18 inches dbh at 83 Ruggles Street; one London planetree measuring 19 inches dbh at 31 Kerr Way; two red maple trees measuring 3 and 4 inches dbh at 59 Ruggles Street; and two Norway maple trees measuring 17 and 18 inches dbh at 770 Shawmut Avenue.

    Public testimony will be taken at the hearing, or may be provided prior to the hearing in writing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02118 or by emailing parks@boston.gov with “Roxbury Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
