Nayeli Rodriguez

Program Director, Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics

Nayeli is interested in the city of the future, and how human relationships to public space and urban life will adapt in the face of climate change. She works on a broad portfolio of projects at the intersection of climate resilience and the built environment. An urban planner with a background in journalism and technology, she draws on her interdisciplinary experience to help reduce Boston’s climate hazards, prepare the City’s infrastructure for future climate conditions, and bring delight to everyday life. Her current portfolio includes: designing resilient outdoor spaces for the Boston Public Library, Clean Air in Boston initiatives, and collaboration with the Streets cabinet on the implementation of green infrastructure. In addition to climate resilience in the built environment, her interests have evolved toward policy and strategic planning on extreme weather preparedness and emergency management.

Nayeli previously worked as an urban planner at Sasaki, and managed creative digital projects for Google. She earned her Master’s in City Planning, City Design, and Development from MIT. A native of Texas and a member of the Lipan Apache Tribe, Nayeli is a resident of the South End with her husband, daughter, and goldendoodle, Truman.
