Mayoral recognition online request form

The Mayor’s Office offers a variety of ceremonial documents to congratulate, honor, or recognize City of Boston residents, organizations, or events. Options include:

  • Citations (also known as a Certificate of Recognition) may be issued to individuals, groups, organizations, or businesses with a connection to the City of Boston for individual or group achievement, exceptional contributions to the Boston community, milestones, or commemorative events or occasions.
  • Proclamations designate a specific day, week or month in honor of an individual, group, event, or cause. Proclamations are reserved for the most significant of occasions.

Before making a request, please note the following:

  • These documents are ceremonial in nature and neither constitute an endorsement nor are legally binding.
  • Due to the sheer volume of requests, all requests must be made at least 4 weeks in advance. Requests made less than 4 weeks in advance will not be considered.
  • Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and the Mayor’s Office reserves the right to deny any request.
  • Submissions without sufficient draft language will not be considered.
  • Proclamations are not automatically renewed. Requests must be made on a yearly basis.
