Boston Public Library's Festive December Programs

Celebrate the winter and holiday season at the Boston Public Library through a variety of performances, crafts, films, and open houses:

• Make a wreath for your door, or give one away as a gift, on Thursday, December 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the Uphams Corner Branch, located at 500 Columbia Road in Dorchester.
• Join the Lower Mills Branch for a holiday-themed film series on Fridays in December at 1 p.m. at 27 Richmond Street in Dorchester.
• View March of the Penguins on Sunday, December 4, at 2 p.m. in the Children’s Library at the Central Library in Copley Square.
• Children ages 1-5 join singer Jeanne Mack for winter songs and stories on Tuesday, December 6, at 11 a.m. at the West Roxbury Branch, located at 1961 Centre Street.
• The South Boston Arts Association presents its 4th annual Gingerbread House Contest and Exhibition to benefit Toys for Tots on Monday, December 12, at 6 p.m. at the South Boston Branch, located at 646 East Broadway.
• Decorate and enjoy homemade gingerbread and cut-out sugar cookies on Tuesday, December 13, at 4:30 p.m. at the Adams Street Branch, located at 690 Adams Street in Dorchester.
• Make holiday-inspired nature crafts on Tuesday, December 13, at 4:30 p.m. at the Mattapan Branch, located at 1350 Blue Hill Avenue.
• Celebrate winter with a live performance of Frosty the Snowman! on Wednesday, December 14, at 10 a.m. at the West End Branch, located at 151 Cambridge Street.
• Join in the spirit of the season at David Polansky’s holiday sing along concert for adults and seniors on Wednesday, December 14, at 1 p.m. at the South Boston Branch, located at 646 East Broadway.
• A holiday-themed concert featuring students from the New England Conservatory takes place in conjunction with the Library’s Never Too Late Group on Thursday, December 15, at 2 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon at the Central Library in Copley Square.
• A holiday book sale takes place on Saturday, December 17, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the South Boston Branch, located at 646 East Broadway.
• View The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on Sunday, December 18, at 2 p.m. in the Children’s Library at the Central Library in Copley Square.
• Make a small drum or shaker craft, then join Cornell Coley in his drumming circle on Monday, December 19, at 6 p.m. at the Connolly Branch, located at 433 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain.
• Enjoy a holiday magic show by Debbie O’Carroll on Wednesday, December 21, at 4 p.m. at the Charlestown Branch, located at 179 Main Street.
• View The Polar Express on Family Movie Night on Wednesday, December 21, at 5:15 p.m. at the Honan-Allston Branch, located at 300 North Harvard Street.
• Wrap gifts for friends and family on Wednesday, December 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Adams Street Branch, located at 690 Adams Street in Dorchester.
• View the film Love the Coopers in conjunction with the Library’s Never Too Late Group on Thursday, December 22, at 2 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon at the Central Library.
• Join the Grove Hall Branch for an evening of cookie decorating and Rugrats holiday episodes on Thursday, December 22, at 5:30 p.m. at 41 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester.
• The Fields Corner Branch shows The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on Saturday, December 24, at 11 a.m. at 1520 Dorchester Avenue.
• Join the Grove Hall Branch for an edible snowflake design program on Saturday, December 24, at 11:30 a.m. and a showing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas at 41 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester.
• Ring in the New Year with crafts, games, and friends on Wednesday, December 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Adams Street Branch, located at 690 Adams Street in Dorchester.
• View the film New Year’s Eve in conjunction with the Library’s Never Too Late Group on Thursday, December 29, at 2 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon at the Central Library.
• Celebrate the end of 2016 with games, crafts, prizes, music, and more on Saturday, December 31, at 11:15 a.m. at the Egleston Square Branch, located at 2044 Columbus Avenue in Roxbury.
• Winter and holiday open houses are scheduled for the following branches:
  • Saturday, December 3, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the North End Branch, located at 25 Parmenter Street.
  • Thursday, December 8, from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Uphams Corner Branch, located at 500 Columbia Road in Dorchester.
  • Thursday, December 8, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the West End Branch, located at 151 Cambridge Street.
  • Tuesday, December 13, from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Fields Corner Branch, located at 1520 Dorchester Avenue.
  • Thursday, December 15, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Parker Hill Branch, located at 1497 Tremont Street in Roxbury. The open house includes a book sale.
