Teen Dating Violence Awareness

Healthy relationships are built on respect, safety, and support. During this week's Council meeting, the Council adopted a resolution recognizing the importance of Teen Dating Violence (TDV) awareness and the need to support efforts that provide education, advocacy, and resources for young people.

The resolution recognizes Teen Dating Violence as a public health issue that can include abuse, harassment, and stalking within current or past romantic relationships. It highlights that TDV affects young people across different backgrounds and experiences, while noting that some youth populations experience higher rates of dating violence.

The resolution emphasizes that teen dating violence can be prevented through education, awareness, and advocacy efforts. It also highlights the availability of resources for youth, schools, families, and communities through support organizations, healthcare and mental health professionals, school-based services, and other networks.

The Council recognized the importance of raising awareness about Teen Dating Violence and reaffirmed its commitment to advancing equitable, accessible, and culturally responsive resources to support young people.
