Pedestrian Safety Education

Boston Safe Routes to School provides pedestrian safety lessons for students in second and third grades.

In-School Pedestrian Safety Education

About the Pedestrian Safety Program: This 30-45 minute pedestrian safety lesson covers

  1. how to cross streets and intersections safely,
  2. parking lot safety, and
  3. outdoor bus safety.

We will begin the lesson inside, and then go outside - we will stay on school property the entire time. Two of our instructors will lead the training, but we ask that the class teacher be present for the training.

We are following the MA Safe Routes to School curriculum, adapted for the appropriate grade level. This pedestrian safety lesson meets objectives in the SHAPE Standards, Joint Committee on National Health Education Standards (CDC), and Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework. Feel free to check out the 2nd grade curriculum here.

Schedule our Visit: Schedule a day for our team to visit your 2nd and 3rd grade classes using this link. Please work with your 2nd and 3rd grade teachers to schedule all classes on the same day.
