Tree Removal Hearing: Fenway / Longwood
In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department will hold a virtual public hearing on a request to remove six (6) public shade trees at 1 Joslin Place, Longwood Medical Area.

The request is for the removal of six (6) public shade trees, located at 1 Joslin Place in the Longwood Medical Area, in order to accommodate the demolition of the existing Joslin Diabetes Center building and construction of a new 450,000 sq ft hospital space for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The following trees are being requested for removal: Four (4) Linden trees measuring 19 inches DBH (diameter at breast height), 14 inches DBH, 12 inches DBH and 12 inches DBH; and two (2) Red Maple trees measuring 7 inches DBH and 8 inches DBH.
The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) remotely on Thursday, October 2, at 10:30 a.m. via Zoom.

Public comments, questions or objections to the removal of these trees must be submitted in writing prior to or during the hearing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Roxbury, MA 02118 or by emailing trees@boston.gov with “Joslin Place Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
