  1. DESIGN REVIEW HEARING - CANCELED - No Design Review Items

     

     

  2. BUSINESS MEETING AT 6PM

    ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW/APPROVAL

    In order to expedite the review process, the commission has delegated the approval of certain work items, such as those involving ordinary maintenance and repair, restoration or replacement, or which otherwise have a minimal impact on a building’s appearance, to commission staff pending ratification at its monthly public hearing. Having been identified as meeting these eligibility criteria and all applicable guidelines, the following applications will be approved at this hearing:

    24.0490 BLC - 19 ASHLAND STREET, Boston, MA 02125

    New addition to pending landmark building as per BLC design review from advisory hearing last year. BLC gave a letter of support for the project for their ZBA application, which was approved. 

    24.0529 BLC - 206 WASHINGTON STREET , Boston, MA 02108

    Application includes reinstallation of the original gilded eagle at the east chimney top of the Old State House.

    23.0266 BLC- 10 MELVILLE AVE, Boston, MA 02124

    Emergency application includes replacement of all of the windows in the main house with 1/1 lite configuration all-wood double hung windows. 

    24.0490 BLC - 137 BEACON STREET, Boston, MA 02116

    Replacing wood lath and horsehair plaster, where missing, or damaged strictly utilizing    traditional materials: sawn lath and lime putty-and-sand animal haired plaster; Reattaching all loose plaster where possible aiming at saving as much of the original as possible; Repairing cracks and holes on all walls and ceilings, as necessary, utilizing traditional lime  putty-and-sand plaster; & Scrape, sand and prepare all plaster surfaces for paint application Prime and paint all walls and ceilings.

    Applicants whose projects are listed under this heading NEED NOT APPEAR at the hearing. Following the hearing, you will be issued a Determination Sheet to present at the Inspectional Services Department (1010 Massachusetts Avenue) as proof of project approval when applying for permits. ISD personnel will send an electronic copy of your building-permit application to the commission staff for review. (To avoid potential confusion, the text of your building-permit application should be consistent with the project description given below.) Commission staff will accordingly authorize the execution of the work, attaching any applicable provisos, reflecting the relevant guidelines and precedents. 

    PLEASE NOTE THAT FOLLOWING ISSUANCE OF THE DETERMINATION SHEET NO FURTHER CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE ISSUED for the applications listed below. The electronic building-permit application as annotated by commission staff will constitute your Certificate of Appropriateness; this will be valid for two years from the date of the hearing.
