Boston Landmarks Commission Hearing 11-28-23

The Boston Landmarks Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 4 p.m.

ATTENTION: This hearing will only be held virtually and NOT in person. You can participate in this hearing by going to our online meeting or calling 1-309-205-3325 US and entering meeting id # 933 7545 7710. You can also submit written comments or questions to blc@boston.gov.

  1. DESIGNREVIEW HEARING 4:00PM

    24.0237 BLC - 1-2 THOMPSON SQUARE, CHARLESTOWN - a large addition which affects the original building significantly. The project is a five story addition to an existing five story building at 1 Thompson Sq. - Existing 1-story addition will be demolished. The new addition will obscure the view of the original building on two-sides of the existing structure. presentation

  2. BUSINESS HEARING 6:00PM

    REVIEW OF DESIGN REVIEW ITEMS 

    Chair of the design review subcommittee will review applications reviewed earlier in the evening and the commission will vote to accept the recommendations of the subcommittee.   

    ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW/APPROVAL

    In order to expedite the review process, the commission has delegated the approval of certain work items, such as those involving ordinary maintenance and repair, restoration or replacement, or which otherwise have a minimal impact on a building’s appearance, to commission staff pending ratification at its monthly public hearing. Having been identified as meeting these eligibility criteria and all applicable guidelines, the following applications will be approved at this hearing:

    24.0455 BLC - 401 PARK DRIVE, THE LANDMARK CENTER - New HVAC units at roof of Landmarks Center. 

    24.0265 BLC - 1020 CENTRE STREET - ADAMS NERVINE ASYLUM SITE - Director’s House - Flat roof, roof deck and railing replacement in-kind. 

    24.0417 BLC - 206 WASHINGTON STREET, OLD STATE HOUSE  - Removal of existing rusted and warped steel plate that covers the non-working handicap lift located in the plaza on the west side of the building.  A new reinforced steel plate will be installed in the same location. 

    24.0403 BBW - 58 DEERFIELD STREET, BOSTON, MA: Replace copper gutters and roof slate in-kind.

    24.0314 SB - 2 DURHAM STREET, BOSTON, MA : Construct rear deck at second level. (Previously approved by St. Botolph Commissioners but quorum was not met.)
