Rakia Islam
Rakia Islam is the Manager of Engagement and Operations for Boston’s Community Preservation Act office.
Previously, Rakia served as the Deputy Director of a nonprofit organization benefiting refugees and immigrants in Rhode Island. Her passions for advocacy and public health equity continue to shape her north star in her personal and professional life. She brings an extensive background in grant writing, grassroots organizing, and public engagement to her work on the CPA team.
Rakia holds a B.A. in English with a concentration in Nonfiction Writing from Brown University. Apart from her firsthand experience with fundraising and community outreach, she has played various roles in philanthropic initiatives focused on advancing equitable access to resources and opportunities.
