Keith Williams

Deputy Chief of Operations, City Services

As Deputy Chief of Operations for City services, Keith works closely with the Chief of Operations and team. Williams currently oversees the Problem Property Task Force and works alongside intergencies in order to assist in the coordination of citywide events and initiatives

Williams began his career in City Hall as an aide to a Boston City Councilor serving the Roxbury community before transitioning to the Department of Neighborhood Developments Real Estate Management and Sales team.  

Soon after Williams was appointed as Neighborhood Liaison for Roxbury by then Mayor Thomas M. Menino where he served as the community’s conduit to the Mayor’s office providing city services and representation before the city’s regulatory boards and commissions. Williams was appointed to serve as Associate Director of the Office of Neighborhood Services thereafter.

Williams served as Deputy Director for the Office of Fair Housing and Equity and the Fair Housing Commission, working with residents and institutions to assure fairness in housing and development.  He was appointed by then Mayor Martin J. Walsh as Executive Director of the Office of Small Business-Boston Residents Jobs Policy Office and the Boston Employment Commission, where he was charged with leading Boston’s Small business initiatives working with team members to create and launch an in house coffee cart program (Boston Brewin), soon transforming into a stand alone concept now occupied by Recreo.  He was also charged with working with the building and construction trades to employ Boston residents, women and persons of color to obtain and sustain employment in Boston's construction arena.

Williams later joined the Mayor’s Civic Engagement cabinet to serve as Director of Policy where he worked on policy for the Office of Neighborhood Services and Boston's new cannabis program.

Williams attended the University of Massachusetts, Boston and the New England College of Business and Finance.  He resides in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.
