The Boston City Council Stands with Ukraine

During this week’s Council meeting, the Council voted to adopt a resolution condemning the unprovoked invasion and egregious act of aggression against Ukraine by the Russian Federation.

The Council affirms its unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, self-governance, and territorial integrity by calling for the immediate cessation of the violent and illegal Russian military invasion of Ukraine, which has lacked regard for civilian lives.

They commend the courage, resolve, and resilience shown by the Ukrainian people in their pursuit of sovereignty and democracy, and pay tribute to the many who gave their lives in pursuit of a free and democratic Ukraine.

The Council calls on the Federal government to increase continuing humanitarian support and aid efforts in the resettlement of the estimated three to five million Ukrainian refugees who will be displaced by the war, and calls on the Biden Administration to stop buying oil from Russia.
