Food Forests
Learn more about food forests and where to find them in Boston
Food forests transform vacant, City-owned lots into locally-run, public edible parks. The food forests in Boston are run by the Boston Food Forest Coalition (BFFC), a nonprofit land trust, with community members. Together, they’re building a network of environmental and social resilience across Boston. The focus is on community collaboration and the protection of local green space.
BFFC sites and spaces are open to everyone. There are no fees or signups required. They consistently engage new community members through:
- volunteer workdays
- educational workshops, and
- community events
They are always looking for committed new stewards to join their existing teams. To get involved with events, stewardship, and beyond, email hope@bostonfoodforest.org
