Ride for Your Life

The Council is recognizing Ride for Your Life and honoring the lives lost to traffic violence. The Council adopted a resolution recognizing the organization’s work to advance street safety and committing itself to the goal of safer streets for all types of mobility.

According to the resolution, Massachusetts recorded 354 traffic deaths in 2025. Of those deaths, 21% were pedestrians, and among the 76 pedestrians who died, 62% were killed in environmental justice communities and 43% were 65 years old or older. The City of Boston’s Vision Zero Dashboard also reports almost 600 pedestrian-involved crashes requiring an EMS response and more than 200 crashes involving cyclists.

Ride for Your Life is a nonprofit organization founded to remember lives lost to traffic violence and take collective action to create safe streets for all types of mobility. Cities across the country host the annual event, which includes a group bike ride and group walk to local, state, and federal government centers to call for effective change and reform.

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, Ride for Your Life will host its annual event in Boston, bringing participants together to ride, walk, and rally for meaningful change to save lives. The Council’s resolution recognizes the organization’s work and honors those who have lost their lives to traffic violence.
