Heat Emergency in Boston
/
Mayor Wu announced a heat emergency in Boston from Sunday, June 22, through Tuesday, June 24. A number of splash pads and City pools are open, and select BCYF community centers will be open as cooling centers during the emergency.

June is Pride Month

Continuing our yearly celebration of Pride Month highlighting resources, events, and more in support of Boston’s LGBTQ+ community.

This June, as we do every year, we take time to celebrate Pride Month and spotlight both local and national resources for Boston’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Nonbinary community. Advocacy means acknowledging the past and present struggles faced by the resilient members of the LGBTQ+ community. The ACLU provides a regularly updated map that tracks the wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation across the country, much of it targeting gender identity, education, and school “duty to report” policies.

Understanding these ongoing struggles is essential to truly honoring the acceptance, freedom, and resilience of LGBTQ+ individuals in our city. We also want to take this time to highlight celebratory events to take pride in as well as support services for those who may be facing life challenges. Below are a variety of resources and events dedicated to empowering, supporting, and celebrating Pride Month, along with educational opportunities for those who want to learn more.

  • Boston Pride: The iconic Boston Pride Parade and Festival returns on June 14, 2025, celebrating empowerment, education, and the commemoration of historic struggles, achievements, and resilience. Visit the official site for event details, donation opportunities, and volunteer information.
