Greenovate hosts another successful Urban Wild cleanup in Hyde Park

On Saturday, September 28, Greenovate hosted our fourth Urban Wild cleanup of the year at the Sherrin Woods in Hyde Park. The gorgeous fall day was made even brighter by the more than 20 volunteers who showed up to clean up litter in the park and learn more about Greenovate and our programs. A huge thank you to everyone that made this volunteer event a success!

Throughout the course of the cleanup, participants connected with one another, discussed our zero waste programs, picked up litter, remove invasive species, and hauled cinder blocks.

Many of the volunteers from this event were from the Keep Hyde Park Beautiful, a group that works with Residents, businesses, schools, and government to make Hyde Park a cleaner, greenovate, and more beautiful place to live, work, learn, and play. Their focus is litter prevention, education and cleanup among other zero waste education campaigns.

If you weren’t able to join us this Saturday, don’t worry! Our next Urban Wild cleanup will be October 19, from 9 a.m. to noon, in West Roxbury’s Rivermoor Urban Wild. The Parks and Recreation Department will lead the educational and removal of invasive species portion of the event. They will help volunteers identify and remove the invasive species that are affecting the Rivermoor Urban Wilds.

If you would like to be a part of this event, please fill out this form. If you need help getting to and from Rivermoor, please note that in this form and a representative will contact you to coordinate transportation.
