Cummins Highway Construction Update: June 2025
We’re making progress on building new sidewalks on Cummins Highway. Throughout this month, we’ll install sidewalks as well as new curbs and ramps.
We’re also constructing the public realm area: the space between the roadway and sidewalks. This space will eventually include bus stops, plantings, green infrastructure, and the bike lane.
Construction on the public realm and sidewalk area between Wood Avenue and Tampa Street are in-progress. The public realm space - between the road and sidewalk - will include green infrastructure to absorb stormwater runoff, new trees, and the bike lane here.
We’re to complete a significant portion of curb and sidewalk between Wood Avenue and Greenfield Street by mid-summer. We’re tentatively beginning work on the section between Woodhaven Street and Fairway Street by mid-July. This work will start with the removal of the median and repaving of the roadway.
We are also building curb extensions and raised crosswalks at the entrances to some streets. These street design elements will make crossing the street feel safer and more comfortable.
