Council Adopts Measures Addressing Housing, Equity, And Community Needs
This week, Councilor Fernandes Anderson introduced a wide-ranging set of policy resolutions, nine of which were adopted.
These resolutions focused on equity, cultural recognition, infrastructure, housing, and civic education — reflecting a comprehensive approach to community-centered governance.

Housing for young adults, urging a State and City partnership to build residential options — including those aging out of DCF — on community college campuses in Boston.

Housing pipeline reform, calling for urgent structural changes to strengthen affordability, prevent displacement, and improve access to stable housing.

Cultural recognition, designating the Downtown RFI Area as a Boston Cultural District led by Indigenous and Black communities — a step toward reparative justice.

Black economic equity, calling for a dedicated development plan and an equity-backed budget framework to address Boston’s racial wealth gap.
