Raquel Halsey

Raquel Halsey (Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation) is the Executive Director for the North American Indian Center of Boston (NAICOB). The oldest urban Indian center in Massachusetts, NAICOB has provided cultural, social, educational, and professional services to the New England Native American community since 1969. Before moving to Boston, Raquel taught and advocated for children in the District of Columbia and Maryland at CASA for Children of DC as well as StandardsWork. She began her career as a staff member for Congressman Albert R. Wynn assisting in legislation for Native Americans, housing, and social security.

Ms. Halsey is a convening member of the Massachusetts Environmental Justice Table, and serves on the Massachusetts General Brigham Substance Use Disorder Equity Grant Advisory Council, and the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau's Multicultural Committee. She is an alumna of The Boston Foundation's 2021-2023 Neighborhood Fellows program. Additionally, Ms. Halsey has chaired the Town of Brookline Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration Committee, led efforts in support of the Massachusetts Indigenous legislative agenda, and served on the Massachusetts Department of Public Health COVID-19 Health Equity Advisory Group.
