Executive Director

With an over twenty-year career in labor, Dana Alas brings her unwavering advocacy for women workers, low-income workers, immigrant workers, and workers of color to The Office of Women’s Advancement.

With her keen understanding of grassroots healthcare organizing, Dana has spearheaded numerous successful campaigns and initiatives, empowered workers and effected positive change at local and statewide levels. Her strategic vision and dedication to social justice have garnered recognition throughout her career, culminating in her election to Vice President of 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. She currently sits on the Board of Health Care for All and served on the transition team for Mayor Wu in 2021.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dana finds immense joy and fulfillment in her role as a mother to two sons, aged 23 and 12, whom she considers her greatest source of pride. Her family has called Dorchester their home since they arrived with her mother in 2016.

When she’s not working, Dana indulges her love for reading, solving puzzles, seafood, and all things Beyoncé.

Dana holds a BS in Labor Studies from Cornell University.
