Uplifting the voices and advancing the lives of women and girls through City programs and policies. We create opportunities, remove barriers, and provide resources—including sharing resources, advocacy initiatives, and legislative tools—to help women of all ages thrive and reach their full potential in our community. Through data-driven policymaking, equitable funding strategies, and partnerships with local, state, and national organizations, we ensure that our initiatives are rooted in sustainable and impactful change..
We work directly in schools, workplaces, and communities to break down obstacles to education, economic security, healthcare, and leadership. By expanding programs, building partnerships, and advocating for equitable policies, we strive to create a city where every woman and girl can reach her full potential.
What our work includes:
- A first-in-the-nation approach to closing the gender pay gaps
- Reducing demand for sex-buying and trafficking
- Programming for women entrepreneurs

Summer Activation Mini Grants
The City of Boston is funding programs that support girls and young women through mentorship, leadership, emotional wellness, and enrichment. If your organization provides trauma-informed, gender-responsive programming, apply now to help close equity gaps and build brighter futures.
Representing Boston's Women
Awardees were nominated by Boston residents for their commitment and dedication to their community, neighborhood, and workplace.
The Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement is offering mini-grants to support programs that improve mental health for women and girls. Eligible projects may include mentorship, mental health education, or activities that build social connection.
