Annmarie Quezada

Annmarie Quezada has over thirty years experience in education as a teacher, Academic Department Chair, Principal and Head of School.  She has been committed to serving underserved students in Lawrence and Boston by serving as Interim HOS at Esperanza Academy, Head of School at Mother Caroline Academy and will soon become Inaugural Head of School at St. John's School in the North End of Boston. Her unwavering dedication to providing quality education to underserved communities is a testament to her relentless pursuit of equity in education.

At Mother Caroline Academy, Ms. Quezada's inherent resolve to elevate the curriculum, enrich the learning environment , and ensure a comprehensive support system entrusted to her care has been exceptional.  Annmarie has not just been a leader, but a mentor, a role model, and a champion for those in need.  She has been a relentless advocate for resources, opportunities, and improvements that uplift each community she serves. She is dedicated to the true belief that each student has her/his own gifts to contribute to society.

When we experienced Covid restrictions, Annmarie quickly pivoted MCA to ensure that each student had qual access to technology, enabling continuity in education. Moreover, many of the MCA families experienced food insecurity and Annmarie coordinated efforts to provide food for all.  She stated, "The school has to become a social institution for our families and transcend academic instruction. Now is the time to address other needs ".

Annmarie is known to create and propagate fearless leadership teams and her teams have been diverse focusing on social justice in the curriculum.  In her tenor at MCA she added a third grade, increased enrollment by over 60%, created new partnerships with EV Kids,

Boston College, Boston Ballet, and the Boston Children's Hospital as well as took the school through a successful 10 year reaccreditation process. She received board approval for becoming a K-8 school that will enable the school to serve more families at a learning entry point critical to educational success. Annmarie graduated from Boston College with a BA in Romance languages and from Salem State University with a MAT in Spanish. She is a resident of the South End and currently serves on the Massachusetts General Hospital Community Advisory Board.
