Adeja Smith

Community Leader

Hey, my name is Adeja Smith, and I am a senior at Boston Latin Academy. I am very determined and outspoken, particularly about things I’m passionate about. My desire to make a difference in the criminal justice system and understand the minds of criminals is what further drives my need to communicate and advocate for those who can't for themselves. For this reason, I will pursue a field in Forensic psychology, allowing me to be proactive and reactive in how I support victims and study criminal minds. I will support victims in feeling comfortable and accepting of their experiences in order to support others with similar stories. This drive will enhance my legacy of making sure people’s voices are heard and that change is being made throughout our society. In addition to my academic and professional pursuits, I hold several leadership roles such as Black Student Union member (BSU), Member of the Mock Trial team, Student activist and ambassador, and many more that are further listed in my experience section. Each of these experiences has given me special skills in teamwork, time management, leadership, and critical thinking. Furthermore, these skills have continued to build through my time spent in some programs such as The Academy Group, Red Soxs Scholars, and Love Your Magic. My determination to better express and grow my knowledge has been recognized through several awards such as Cum Laude ( Honors rewards), Remaining an A+ student and awarded for excellence in AP language and composition, AP African American studies, Latin 3 honors. This recognition not only proves my dedication to my academics and education but also my ability to manage and prioritize my learning. While also juggling working with the YMCA as an educator for kids K1-6th still managing and providing a fun time for kids around Boston.

Nevertheless, I am thrilled to continue my journey into forensic psychology and to discover how I can better provide and make a change for the better of society.
