Learn about our work

We work with colleagues in City government to engage with constituent groups in determining the best locations and design for our construction and renovation projects.

We also ensure that City buildings are accessible to all residents, meet or exceed life safety codes, and are constructed with maximum efficiency and sustainability in mind.

Our legal staff ensures that our contracting processes follow these Massachusetts General Laws:

The Operations and Construction Unit of our department manages capital construction projects from their beginning to end. Our Planning and Management Unit tracks projects, keeps information on schedules and budgets, and manages annual Capital Planning, Master Planning processes, and the Management Information System.
