Tastery Reed, Jr.

Investigator

"Tastery Reed holds a BS Degree in Criminal Justice (Investigative Services) from the University of New Haven and a master’s degree in Homeland Security and Counterterrorism from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Tastery is also Certified in Cyber Crime through the National White Collar Crime Center. Tastery also has worked in criminal and civil investigations for more than ten years. 8 of those years were with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, specifically with the Bureau of Special Investigations where he investigated public assistance fraud involving EBT and MassHealth fraud. Tastery has also worked in Community Corrections where he worked with individuals who were released from incarceration to help them return to their families, find jobs and apply to college to obtain degrees. Tastery joined OPAT in January 2022 to better the relationship between the police and the community. His main reason for joining OPAT was because a close relative was wrongfully convicted of the killing of a Police Officer and served twenty-two years in prison. In 2023, Tastery was awarded the City of Boston Civic Hero Award by Mayor Wu for his contributions to serving his community.

Outside of the office, Tastery serves as a mentor in many different organizations such as Bottom Line, and the Valedictorian Project, and serves as a HOPE Ambassador at Bunker Hill Community College where he works with students of color to help remove barriers faced and empower them to navigate their college journey. Tastery is also a Certified Life Coach and he enjoys going to the gym, hanging out with friends and family, and listening to music.
