Todd Mistor

Director of Urban Forestry

Todd Mistor serves as the Director of Urban Forestry for the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department. He oversees the implementation of the city’s Urban Forest Plan which was released in September of 2022 and provides a framework for increasing the tree canopy coverage across the city to achieve a more equitable distribution and maximize the many benefits that trees provide.

Todd is originally from the Mid-West and moved to Boston in 2023 to serve as the first Director of Urban Forestry. He has previously worked for the city of Detroit and other smaller municipalities in Michigan and has almost two decades of experience working with the complexities of supporting trees in an urban environment.

The Urban Forest Plan provides a good foundation of data to support future initiatives and Todd is proud to grow the Urban Forestry Division to first and foremost deliver excellent service to residents and quality care to the tens of thousands of trees along city streets and in city parks. He enjoys working with community groups and residents to form collaborative partnerships that are essential to successfully growing our urban forest.

Todd has enjoyed learning about Boston’s rich history and diverse neighborhoods and has settled in the East Boston neighborhood. He loves to travel and especially getting to know the many attractions and natural beauty around New England.
