Byrne Playground is beloved by the surrounding community. The park was established in 1939 and seen piecemeal improvements since 2009. It is now due for a comprehensive renovation. The renovation will include the playground, sprayground, courts, and passive lawn area. The scope of the work includes community engagement, design, construction, and construction administration.

The site is potentially advantageous for green stormwater infrastructure. It is located near a Heat Vulnerable Focus Area. Design strategies that help increase cooling, expand water access, and increase ecological services will be explored.

Specific project features include:

  • multi-use court
  • Pickleball courts
  • pedestrian gathering area
  • improved fencing
  • passive use lawn
  • playground, and
  • water play.
