Charlie Sheils
Charlie Sheils (he/him) is the Director of Data Engineering on the Citywide Analytics Team. He leads the management of the Analytics Team's data warehouse and geospatial infrastructure, which get data from various City and external sources for various analytical, reporting and geospatial applications. He also facilitates the integration of various enterprise data systems throughout DoIT and other City departments. Through this work, Charlie aims to facilitate improved data sharing, reporting and process automation within and across the City's departments, with the ultimate goal of improving the constituent experience.
Charlie graduated from Williams College in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Economics, and from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago in 2021 with a master's of science degree in Computational Analysis and Public Policy. Between college and graduate school, he worked at an economic consulting firm in Washington, D.C., on various antitrust and damages cases. In graduate school he also worked at the UChicago Urban Labs Energy and Environment Lab as a graduate fellow, and as a Community Action Fellow for a disability services and support organization in Chicago.
In his spare time, Charlie enjoys playing softball, running, rowing, skiing, playing the piano, traveling, and trying new restaurants throughout Boston.
