Learn about our work

We work with colleagues in City government to engage with constituent groups in determining the best locations and design for our construction and renovation projects.

We also ensure our projects are accessible to all residents, meet or exceed life safety codes, and are constructed with maximum efficiency and sustainability in mind.

Our Legal Unit ensures that our contracting processes follow these Massachusetts General Laws:

The Design and Construction Units of our department manage capital construction projects from beginning to end.

Our Administration and Finance Unit oversees procurement for the department, liaises with the Office of Budget Management, maintains our operating budget, and provides data analysis tools and resources to the department.,  For more information on our staff, please see our organization chart.
