Boston City Hall Greeters

Boston City Hall Greeters provide friendly assistance to constituents visiting Boston City Hall.

About the program

Each volunteer has access to an iPad equipped with maps and other information to assist constituents. Volunteers receive training and a tour of City Hall prior to service. 

Operating hours are Monday - Friday from 9am to 4pm This is a great opportunity for older adults to give back to Boston and be engaged in their community.

Volunteer Benefits
  • A monthly reimbursement of $15 for travel expenses. (Volunteers must serve a minimum of four shifts per month (12 hours) to qualify for reimbursement.)     
  • Connection to free events sponsored by the City of Boston.  
  • Income-eligible Property Tax Work-off applicants can also work off a portion of their property tax while serving as a greeter.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility
  • Be 55+ years of age
  • Have valid ID
  • Be a Boston resident
  • Requires a 6-month commitment and three to four hours per week minimum.
