Peter Tabe Eyong
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Peter wanted to change his career to healthcare. The Immigrant Professionals Fellowship helped him pivot his skills while giving him financial security.
From Mamfe, Cameroon, Peter Tabe Eyong earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and worked as a bank manager for several years. In 2014 Peter decided to continue his education and move to the United States for a graduate degree in project management at Lasell University. When he finished his degree, Lasell hired him to supervise and manage the central dining hall.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Peter wanted to transition his skills into healthcare but felt he was often overlooked because he was not as familiar with U.S. workforce culture. He applied for the Immigrant Professionals Fellowship and was placed at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Peter said his colleagues in the neurology department were extremely supportive and became his mentors, connecting him with different people and resources to ensure his future success. Peter says this fellowship was a dream come true. He wants to remain in healthcare and apply for positions within Mass General Hospital.
