Dianne Wilkerson

Boston Black COVID-19 Coalition

Dianne Wilkerson is the founder of the Boston Black COVID-19 Coalition. She has long been focused on advocating for economic and social justice, particularly as it impacts Black residents and Black businesses in MA. In what Wilkerson described as the biggest personal and professional challenge of her life, in March 2020, Wilkerson co-founded the Black Boston COVID-19 Coalition out of concern that the Black Boston community receive sufficient resources to fight the virus and the economic and health consequences thereof. BBCC is credited with steering a major volume of PPE, food, testing to more than 200,000 Black/Latino residents and shepherding more than 400,000 vaccinations over a 3-year period. She is a sought-after speaker and adviser on matters of economic development, civil rights, health equity, closing the racial achievement gap and creating wealth for Black MA residents. Wilkerson has been honored by the Boston Branch NAACP, Boston Fair Housing Commission, Daughters of the Eastern Star of Prince Hall Lodge, named as one of the 100 Most Impactful Women in Boston in 2020 and 100 Most Influential Bostonians in 2021. Most recently, Wilkerson has authored a massive, transformative economic plan for Black/Latino Boston called CONTEMPORATIONS.
