Dr. Rufus Jackson Faulk

Director

Dr. Rufus Jackson Faulk currently is the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety. He was born and raised in Boston’s neighborhood of Roxbury and still currently reside in the area with his seven-year-old daughter. Since his appointment in 2019, he has partnered with both internal and external partners to develop the City of Boston’s violence prevention framework and network.

Prior to his current role within the Mayor’s Office, he served as the Director of Victims Services for the Department of Corrections, and prior to that role, he served as the Director for the Boston Ten Point Coalition. He received a BA in History with a minor in Business Management from Temple University, a MA in Urban Affairs from Boston University, and a Doctorate in Law and Policy from Northeastern University. The title of his dissertation is, “The lived experiences of parents in the Roxbury neighborhood in seeking secondary school opportunities for their children”.

Dr. Faulk has volunteered for 12 years with the No Books No Ball organizations coaching young people in our city.
