Yusufi Vali is the Director of the Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement at the City of Boston. He leads his team to advance stability, economic empowerment, civic ownership, and social integration for immigrants in Boston.
Director Vali supports the Mayor’s legislative agenda on immigration and works to strengthen legal infrastructure for pathways to status, including for Haitian asylum seekers. To ensure equity and build wealth for immigrant families, Director Vali oversees the Dreamers Fellowship for immigrant youth and partnerships with nonprofit and private sectors to create work opportunities for foreign-trained professionals. He helps develop community leaders through Immigrants Lead Boston and supports vulnerable communities, having raised over $5 million dollars for basic needs assistance for immigrants impacted by COVID-19.
Prior to being appointed in July 2019, Director Vali served as Executive Director of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center. He was a Fulbright Scholar, a Marshall Scholar, and a Barr Fellow. He is an immigrant from Nagpur, India, and a proud resident of Roslindale.
